22 Week Update

Wow. Every time I type or say how far along I am I'm just amazed. It definitely doesn't feel like it's been that long, and yet I feel like it's been ages since my mind wasn't totally consumed with all things baby. It just seems normal to be so obsessed with this stuff-- haven't I always been? (Um, no Kristeen-- 6 months ago you were TERRIFIED of the mere WORD "baby.") But I won't lie, I'm still a little terrified.

How far along?
22 weeks! ::gasp!::

Best part of these 2 weeks:
These two weeks have been great! We've made a lot of progress in terms of physical, tangible things: we ordered the mattress (got a crazy good deal on an organic one) and got it yesterday, ordered the crib and dresser, and painted the nursery. We also had a second 20-week ultrasound and got to see much better pictures of our baby.

How do I feel? I feel really good! I'm finally beginning to show a little more obviously. I've had several people, both familiar and strangers, ask me my due date. I like the people who say "are you..." and point at my belly-- as if by not actually saying the word would make it less embarrassing if I say no, I'm not. :)

Cravings/Aversions: I thought I had overcome the bagel craving, but that's a big no. I've cut down to once a week though and replaced it with healthier breakfast choices, like yogurt and fruit. No real strong cravings, but my appetite is finally back, and my love of coffee (decaf of course) has reappeared.

What I miss: I never thought I'd say this, but I miss my old body. Much as I despised it, it was less fluffy than this new one (I swear I'm carrying this baby in my face...)

What I'm looking forward to: More movement-- love it! I think the baby had hiccups last night and it was fun. I still am waiting for Brian to feel anything. I'm also looking forward to continued nursery progress.

Weekly Wisdom: We have the best families ever. We may gripe about them from time to time, but really, when it comes down to it, we couldn't ask for more support-- and we couldn't find a better balance of that support and the ability to give us space and let us do things our own way! Thanks family!

Oh, YAY!!! Your starting to show.. I can't wait until your belly pops! I'm so excited for you two.. Kristeen, you look great!!!! I can't wait until the baby becomes really active. It is so much fun! I love watching my belly move. And, I can't wait for you to see Brian experience feeling baby move. Seeing your husband feel the baby kick for the first time is absolutely amazing and precious.. Just the look on his face will be priceless. So exciting!!!!

awe, Kristeen, you look so pretty and "glowing" in this pic. I am surprised that people are guessing about your pregnancy at this point....don't they know that pregnancy is nothing to guess about?!! strangers didn't say anything to me until i was about 6/7 months. although, i guess i prob would have preferred if someone would have thought i was pregnant earlier on instead of just being a little pudgy!

Speaking of strangers' comments...the other day I was getting my gas pumped and the attendant asked me how many weeks I had left.....then he asked me if this was my 2nd baby! what is that supposed to mean??! do i look too old to be having a first baby? i do not know where these people come up with their comments.

I know you had previously posted about crib selections. In this post you stated you purchased a crib? Was it one of the types you had posted about? How did you finally decide on a color/stain and style?
