Get Ready...

'Cus here comes the Cooligan!!! Holy jeez I don't feel ready, but I guess he is!!

This evening as Brian and I were about to start a movie (just about to start for God's sake!!) I leaned forward to grab my drink and... Pop! There went my water. Thank goodness I was at home... that would have been a nightmare in public or at school.

So, I called the doctor. I used the same "trying to stay calm" voice I remember using when I first found out I was pregnant. The voice you use when you're not quite ready to face reality, but you know it's looking you in the face. He said to head to L&D and get checked out to make sure, so (TMI warning) I changed into some dry pants, and was sure that it was true as I walked into the hospital with pants that were yet again soaked. Lovely! Again, let me reiterate how glad I am that this not only happened at home, but that I arrived at the hospital at night so that no one got to watch me walk around in all my wet-pants glory :)

So anyway, I'm writing from a hospital bed, and so far things are going well. When I was checked in around 10, I was 2 cm dialated, 75% effaced, and the baby was at -2 station. While Brian and I will soon shut our phones off and try and get some rest before things get too intense to do so, we'll keep you posted as best we can through our friends and my mom, who is also here with me.

Wish me luck!! I guess Murphy's law is true-- after I got yelled at by several people for not being "ready" with bags packed and things done, of course my body decided to side with them! I'm also SO not ready to be out of work, but hopefully those worries will vanish once this process gets underway and I have more important things to think about!

Things will work out (work wise) because they do). People will pick up where you left off without a second thought and therefore do not stress about that at all.

I so thought you would have the baby this wknd. Knowing that Becky was coming up (for other reasons) confirmed in my psychic mind that the baby would come. I felt that the baby knew that if you were having any doubts having such a good friend so close would be a relief.

I am so happy (obviously anxious to hear news since it is 3:30 and I woke up to check online for updates).

I wish for a quick and as a painfree L&D. I look forward to seeing you hold your lil' man for the first time.
