Today I had another appointment, just my basic checkup (now every 2 weeks.)
I saw the same doctor as I did last time, when I wrote the big long "why don't you bring my chart?" vent. Today, of course, he came in again with no chart. However, he did ask me right off the bat "So, how's your breathing?" This impressed me, and told he he did take the time to at least review the chart before coming to see me, because it was a concern I expressed 2 weeks ago at the last appointment. (improvement!)
He then-- without my prompting!-- discussed the results of my Gestational Diabetes screening (I passed). Last time I saw a doctor after having a test done, he asked me if I'd had the test, which told me he clearly didn't look at my chart at all. (improvement!)
Finally, he told me he'd noticed in my chart that I was RH negative, so I needed a Rhogam Shot. When I told him I was in fact not RH negative, he acted like I might actually know what I'm talking about and left to make sure that what he'd seen (when he read my chart!!) was a mistake. He returned quickly and said I was right, and that I did not need the shot. I greatly appreciated his prompt willingness to go double check. (Improvement!)
So, for the first time since April, I saw an actual doctor and left the office feeling good! Don't get me wrong, I've felt good before, but that has only occured after seeing a midwife for NP. Today is a good day! Here's to the new hope I have that more doctor appointments will follow suit.

I love the owls Kristeen! They look just like the ones you made.
why would you need a shot for being RH negative? Sorry if this is a dumb question-Elaine
Apparently, Elaine, if you're RH negative and the baby winds up with Rh positive blood, and then blood mixes during delivery somehow, your RH antibodies will attack the baby's blood. Or something like that. Luckily, the dr. was wrong! One less shot for me :)
I'm glad that you had a good experience. Maybe that doctor was just having a bad day the last time you saw him. And glad you aren't RH-.
I love the owls, too -- so cute and they match the baby shower invite!
One suggestion -- the green is a little hard to read, but the orange comments text is nearly impossible -- maybe switch to a darker colored font? Or maybe it's just my eyes ...
HOrray for the dr! Way to do your job buddy!
Love the new layout! It is super cute.
i am glad that things are looking up at the dr.'s office. i also love the owls. are you a big owl fan? hoot!
These owls are cuter than the invitation ones... sorry!
Kristy! I do not agree at all! I am not artistic in ANY way but your owls fit on your invitations better than if you used Kristeens. I have 3 other people that back me up on this! Kristten's are cute and yours are perfect for what you used them for!!
What does the shot do though? I am birth-dumb!!!!
During your next upcoming appointments what is typically discussed? When do you start birthing classes? _Elaine_
Elaine-- I guess the shot makes your negative blood cells non-reactive to the positive somehow? I have no idea... good thing I'm positive!
Labor prep classes start this Thursday (9/10). I'll be sure to let everyone know how they go!
