It's a Boy!!

Well... as much as I hate to admit this ever, I was wrong! Our appointment was at 3:00 today and we were able to see very clearly that our lil' cooligan is a boy! I thought I'd be pretty disappointed if that was the news, but I'm really not. I'm letting it sink and and I think it will take me a bit of time to adjust my thinking, but I'm genuinely happy. Up until now, there's really been no room in my mind for thoughts of boys, so I'm letting all those thoughts shift around and settle in a different spot. The ultrasound tech said that everything looked good, so I'm very grateful for that. The baby was very shy (either shy or uncooperative-- I'm going with shy) and had his back to my front, so that we couldn't get a pic of the face, and the profile shots weren't as great as the tech had hoped. I have another appointment in a little over a week so that she can get some of the measurements she wasn't able to get today. Baby's heartbeat was 150, and he's measuring at 11 oz, and a week ahead of himself. They did not, however, change my due date.

So now that we've determined we're going to have a son, we've got loads of work to do! I had a list of about 10 girls' names I liked, and have been looking at all sorts of girl stuff... so we're back to the drawing board with all of those things, but I'm happy to do it! I think the name dilemma will be the longest. Both of us being in education, there's a whole slew of names that are not even considerations. Brian says we can't use any names starting with J, D, or H. I'm thinking that's going to have to change. We will not be sharing the name until after Baby Cool is born, by the way, so while suggestions are warmly welcomed, you should be forewarned that we are swearing ourselves to secrecy with regards to the name.

I'll post the sonogram pics soon!

Why no J, D, H names? That is an odd request. -E

Because he's had a good number of students whose names begin with those letters who he didn't like. But he's being awfully restrictive!

I'm so excited that you're having a boy. Boys are totally awesome and so much fun -- and he will have so many playmates, with Colin and Sam and Ben! And my mom has already agreed to take S&B camping (I HATE camping!), so you can just add Baby Cool to the trip, if you would like. :)

It's good that Brian is a teacher of younger kids b/c he'll know the trendy names to avoid (b/c who wants to be one of five kids in his kindergarten class with the same name??). That being said, even if you know someone with that name, having your own son named that will immediately erase everyone else. I know several Bens and wasn't overly fond of either -- but now, whenever I hear the name Ben, all I can think of is my adorable little boy and it brings a smile to my face and warms my heart. So don't get too stuck on that! :)

Like I said, our babies can still hang out! We can even pose them in pics to look like they <3 eachother:) We are bad! Your pregnancy is going so quickly for me. Pretty soon, you'll be the biggest one in the yoga class! Lemme know if she is having class on the 4th. Have fun picking out boys' clothes!

Boys are so much easier than girls. If they're going to be naughty, they just are and you can deal with it. Girls are sneaky. They smile and are all cutesy and then are little beasts the minute you turn your back. I love my daughter and granddaughter, but believe me the four grandsons are not as time consuming as the one granddaughter.

For names, Ira Morgan would be nice. Then he could be IM Cool.

Chaz says you've ruled out Joe Cool... anyway wonderful news! You will be all ready with those names for later... unless any of hem would work for a boy too?
