We started offering Carter solids on Easter Sunday. We probably could have started much earlier but, nervous first time parents that we are, we waited until Carter's four month appointment (which, thanks to our 2-month tangle with "Susan" and the ensuing delay in regular check-ups, actually happened at almost 5 months.) Our pediatrician advised us to start with Oatmeal, but Brian decided that Rice would be better, so that's what we did.
He didn't seem to be a big fan of rice but in retrospect, we were also trying to feed him when he was hungry and just wanted his bottle. Things have improved greatly and we now either start early before he's ravenously hungry, or we offer a bottle and then solids once he's semi-full. We also started oatmeal about a week ago, and he seems to enjoy that much more than the rice.
Seriously... is this not the cutest face? Ugh, makes me weepy :)

Aw, he looks so cute eating his cereal! I can't believe how bit he is getting. Word of advice on bibs -- get a few of the Bumpkins bibs from BRU and use them over the top of a cloth bib when feeding him. The Bumpkins bib is machine washable and waterproof, so it keeps his clothes clean, and the cloth bib underneath catches any any drool/food that escapes under the Bumpkin! It will definitely save on laundry ...

So cute!!!! Sy oatmeal better than rice also.. He loves banana flavored oatmeal.. Its his favorite so far... You will definitely have to take pictures of when you feed him peas. The last pictures is absolutely precious... He is so handsome!
Kristeen, you do realize he is making the puppy dog face in that last picture!!He gets that from you! =D
